Sometimes I hear the conversation come up about who can jump the highest? First thing everyone always does is bring up  popular NBA players that are known to have high hops. It’s easy to  not think about the guys in the background. The athletes that can truly jump the highest. They will never receive the recognition they deserve because of the general lack of interest in their sport. I am talking about men’s High Jump. Now these guys have hops. The current world record holder is  Javier Sotomayor, from Cuba (featured in the video above) can jump 8 ft and 14 inches from flat ground. His record was set in 1993 and is the longest standing world record for men’s high jump. I am shocked every time I see this video.

To show you just how high Javier could jump in his prime. The tall man pictured above is Bao Xishun. He is the tallest living man in China measuring 7ft 9 inches. Javier could easily jump over him and still have 3 inches to spare. Wow.
